Electronic Safe Arm and Fire Devices (ESAFD) is an electronic arming and ignition system which keeps the missile flight/launch motors, warhead safety on and starts the explosion/the activation of the detonation process in tandem when certain conditions are met. The ESAFD realizes the related pyrotechnic activation by checking the current flight profile compliance with the scenario sequence through the data measured by the sensors such as acceleration, speed, distance, pressure etc. Upon the physical contact with the fuze or detected proximity to the target, depending on the mode selected, it starts instantaneous or delayed warhead activation. In case of unexpected situations during the missile’s mission period, it is used to terminate the flight . The ESAFD ensures safe storing, transportation and mission accomplishment of the critically energetic ammunition in electromagnetic conditions such as Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) and Electromagnetic Radiation Operation (EMRO).
