The Rocket Interface Unit (RIU) fires the rockets on helicopters and aircraft. With its two-redundancy architecture design which can manage 70 mm (2.75 ”) MK 40 and MK66 HYDRA rocket systems, it communicates with the host by using the MIL-SDT 1553 digital data line.
The RIU is designed in accordance with RTCA/DO-254, Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware, and MIL-STD-704, Aircraft Electrical Power Characteristics. The RIU meets the qualification requirements in accordance with the MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, Electromagnetic Interference Characteristics Requirements for Equipment and RTCA/DO-160, Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment.
